A week or two ago I got a call around 2:40 in the morning. They'd recovered my bike. She's back under the carport at the apartment. Here's the damage. If you love bikes, fair warning.

They tried cutting the battery pigtail, positive and negative. I guess to jump or hot-wire it. That wouldn't have done a thing.

My cover was stolen. Long gone.

The clutch was already out before it was taken. I don't know how they rode it, but apparently they did.

The gas cap is broken off. And they filled it with gas, so they weren't planning on stripping it. They were going to use it.

The front brake lever is broken off.

The ignition wires are cut. That's how they jumped it. The lock is shot. I can't even get a key in. Replacing it means taking off the entire triple tree.

They didn't touch the helmet holder or the storage under the back seat where my tool pack was. They left the sissy bar but snapped off the backrest, which is not easy to do. The exhaust guards I'd just put back on are gone.

This was my first bike, so it's not as simple as selling it and buying another one. I'm not sure where to go from here yet.
